“The friend who can be silent with us in moments of despair or confusion, who stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing… that is a friend who cares.”

Journey through Hope

Life after loss: dealing with grief

Loss is an inevitable part of life, and grief is a natural part of the healing process. The reasons for grief are many, such as the loss of a loved one, the loss of health, or the letting go of a long-held dream. Dealing with a significant loss can be one of the most difficult times in a person's life.

Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies can help express feelings, increase coping skills, rebuild self-confidence and decrease the many grief symptoms.

EXAMPLES OF LOSS:

  • Death (including a loved one, a pet, miscarriage)

  • Marital separation or divorce

  • Diminished functioning of family members (i.e. chronic illness, mental illness, or chronic disability)

  • Loss of job or home

  • Moving
